By S-Bahn.
S9 from Flughafen BER to Frankfurter Allee, transfer to U5 one stop east. Trains run every 20 minutes; the whole journey is under an hour.
Our studio is a quiet corner of Berlin's Friedrichshain district — six rooms, four hundred square metres, a long table, and a wall of books we keep arguing about. Open to applicants every other Friday.
We took over a former print workshop in 2024 and changed as little as possible. The light is good, the radiators clank in winter, and the bookshelves are deeper than they need to be — which we recommend.
Open to applicants, alumni, and anyone considering applying. Tea and coffee provided. Bring a question or a paper to discuss; faculty hold informal office hours from 16:00.
RSVP not required · arrival between 16:00 and 19:00 · please respect the cohort in session
Berlin is well-connected. From the airport: forty minutes by S-Bahn. From the Hauptbahnhof: twenty minutes by U-Bahn. From the right Späti: under five minutes.
S9 from Flughafen BER to Frankfurter Allee, transfer to U5 one stop east. Trains run every 20 minutes; the whole journey is under an hour.
U55 to Bundestag, change to U5 to Frankfurter Tor. Walk five minutes east on Frankfurter Allee, turn left at Boxhagener Straße. We are number 76.
The bike route along Landwehrkanal connects most of central Berlin to Friedrichshain in 15–20 minutes. Bike racks on the street; covered parking in the courtyard.
An illustrated overview. The actual neighbourhood has more graffiti, better food, and at least three excellent bookshops within ten minutes' walk.
The next open studio is Friday, May 6th. The next cohort opens January 2026. Both are good places to start. RSVP is not required for either.
